Frequently

Asked

Questions

1. Where will the programme be held?

Our activities will be conducted mainly at the School of Biological Sciences (SBS), but some will be held around the NTU campus and even across the island.

2. What time does the programme start?

Please report to NTU Tan Chin Tuan Lecture Theatre (TCT-LT) at 0900 hrs on the 1st of August for the actual programme.

3. What time does the programme end?

The programme will end at roughly 1200 hrs on the 5th of August. However, there would be a Freshmen Welcome Ceremony organised by Nanyang Technological University after the end of the SBS-FOP.

4. Do I really need to go for the programme?

It is not comuplsory, but strongly encouraged. You will get to know the culture of the school, be familiarized with the NTU environment, and get to know fellow friends and seniors to help you along your university life. More friends are always good, and for the start of your new university life, what better way to make new friends than the Freshmen Orientation Programme?

5. What can I expect from this programme?

Lots of fun. Loads of new friends. Exciting games and activities all around Singapore. Friendly seniors who will welcome you to SBS with open arms :D

6. My router mysteriously lagged and I’m not sure if I successfully submitted the online registration form! :(

No worries, you can contact us by email at BSCLUB-FOC@e.ntu.edu.sg to confirm if you’ve submitted it.

7. When and how will I know if I am enrolled for the programme?

You are guaranteed a spot in the programme just by registering, no strings attached! Your orientation group leader will contact you 3-5 days after registration closes so do make sure your contact details are accurate!

8. Is there a programme fee?

No but you'll have to pay for food and accommodation (short term hall stay) which would be approximately $60.

9. I have a place in hall. Do I still need to follow the packing list?

Yes! Regardless if you're staying in hall or not, just ensure that you have the amount of clothes as required in the packing list for the programme.

10. I'm a NSF and my ORD is during FOP! I need to return to camp to collect my pink IC :( Can I still sign up?

Yes you can!

STORY

"So, you want to star in a movie eh? Sure, we'll make that happen. But there's eight of you - seven too many for lead. Sure, you all might be mythical and all but you're going to have to audition all the same. Best actor stars, simple as that."

Eight mythical creatures are vying for the lead role in an upcoming movie. In order to determine who is best for the role, the production company has come up with an audition comprising several screen tests mirroring movie scenarios. As a mythical creature, you have at your disposal immense strength, wit, prowess, instinct and countless tricks and skills. Play your cards right and outshine your competition to win over the production company and that lead role is yours!

And of course, it's always good to know your competition.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Our freshmen orientation programme aims to help welcome the incoming class of students to the SBS family and provide an opportunity for each freshmen to get to know one another before the academic year begins.

Freshmen will be assigned randomly to any one of eight orientation groups and will go through the five-day programme in these groups whilst guided by dedicated orientation group leaders (OGLs) and seniors attached (SAs).

The lineup of games, activities and workshops over this five-day programme have been meticulously planned by our team such that each freshmen is able to let their hair loose and have fun while preparing for the start of their new school year at NTU SBS.
